When birth and destiny have their own plans

One fine day a score and two years ago there had been

a boy, one of the cutest his uncle averred that he had seen

Not far away, in fact in the same hospital there lay

a baby girl, the only one to be born on that day

Neither were they related nor were their families acquainted

And the boy travelled north while the girl stayed behind

Only to return, for good he was told, in a few years time

And for the next twelve years they listened to the same bells chime

He did not seem to have noticed her during the first eight

And she wonders how he had managed to miss her sight

Nevertheless, their friendship had been predestined

Cos’ it was as instantaneous as anything you could find

She liked to talk and to talk was what she did,

A commentator on the radio, she easily outdid

And listen he did, oh yeah! he was good at that

For he liked to hear her talk, to see her go tut-tut-tut

They understood, cared for and fought with each other

No matter whether they were far off or together

She liked to call him ‘brother’ and she does that still

He liked her even more for that and he always will

But sometimes he does begin to ponder, to wonder

why could they not have been born, well maybe together

But not to worry he told himself, for this was not bad

For she was still his twin, different parents were only what they had
